This was our fifth library project, created as an addition to the existing elementary, along with classrooms and a secure entry vestibule.
The library also functions as a FEMA safe room. Ten inch concrete walls, a concrete roof, and bullet-proof glass provide tornado resistance for the stormy Midwest.
We also added six early-childhood education classrooms. This age group requires special design considerations: less desks and chairs, more open space, room for cubbies, and lots of storage for all the teacher’s materials.
Secured entry vestibule. You enter through the front door, enter the lobby, and be buzzed in before entering the school.
